How does automatic payment reference work in Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O?

Xe has introduced a feature that automatically fills in payment reference information with the company name (as registered with Xe) and invoice number when processing payments in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations. This reference is then included with the payments, making it visible to vendors on their bank statements.

How it works:

1. Go to the Vendor payment journal.
2. Create a new payment batch.
3. Add invoices either via the payment proposal or Settle transactions.
4. Click on Pay with Xe to get a quote.
5. Return to the List view of the payment journal.
6. The payment reference will automatically be populated.
   1. If 1 payment line matches 1 invoice, the reference will be: <Company name> - <invoice number>:
      
      
       
   2. If 1 payment line matches multiple invoices, the reference will be: <Company name> - Multiple invoices:
      
      
       
   3. If no invoice is attached to a payment line, the reference will be: <Company name>:
      
      

Can I change the payment reference? 

Yes, you can overwrite the payment reference before confirming the contract with Xe. After receiving the quote for your batch, you can update the reference in the List view before returning to Xe Payments to confirm / approve the payment.
